Veeam error code 1072 is related to Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) issues on your Windows VM or physical machine. The error message indicates that the VSS writer component has been marked for deletion and cannot be used.
Here are some steps you can take to fix the Veeam code: 1072 VSS marked for deletion issue:
1. Restarting the VM.
- Restarting the VM will restart all VSS Writers and Services and clean up any servers that were not removed
2. Restart the VSS service
- Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
- Type “services.msc” and press Enter to open the Services window.
- Locate the “Volume Shadow Copy” service, right-click it, and select “Restart”.
- Restart any other VSS-related services, such as “Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider” and “Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service”.
3. Check for other failed VSS writers
- Open a command prompt as an administrator.
- Type “vssadmin list writers” and press Enter.
- Check the status of the VSS writers and look for any errors or warnings.
- If any writers are in a failed state, you may need to troubleshoot those issues separately.
